Speaker 1:

Football fans, welcome to the Big Kahuna's Football Podcast, where we bring banter from the bar to the pod. We'll be right back it down strategize the score.

Speaker 2:

Quarterbacks, no huddle. Giving you the law, fire takes no fakes. One-five-one in the cup Stack bundles. High Time to ante up Kahunas to the maximum.

Speaker 1:

Haters. Why you asking them Don't listen to ops when they say you're out. Anyway, what's up everybody? It's your boy Floyd, aka Pretty Boy Floyd, aka Hurricane Floyd, aka that Boy Floyd, aka Retired Boy Floyd. Yes, I am retired from the military. I am no longer in the military. I am officially retired. Aka Wander Traveler. Wander Traveler what is it called? I don't know what the term is, but Travel Boy Floyd under traveler. What is it called? I don't know what the term is, but Travel Boy Floyd Back here, aka aka. It is beautiful to be back, man, and even more beautiful. We have your girlfriend's favorite podcaster. Please introduce yourself.

Speaker 3:

What's good, everyone Straight off the APB. You know what I'm saying. It's been a long time. I'll do all that explaining on another episode when we got more people and all that kind of stuff, because I got a lot of shoutouts and all that good stuff. But for the sake of time, what's up? This is your girl's favorite podcaster on the low aka Otter, even, aka Trust the Process. This is Hawaiian Ryan, everybody From the 808. And I just want to say bonsoir, bonsoir to everyone over there In Canada. That's right, much love to people in Montreal and also much love to their rivals in the six Toronto, scarborough, hamilton, all of them and all that stuff. And if I left anybody out, so apologize. But as Floyd said, for the sake of time we're going to try to keep it short and if it is like how we did in the past, it's probably going to be for an hour. But we're going to keep it short because our global traveler over there on the other side is going to encroach midnight already.

Speaker 3:

All that stuff. Shout out, quick shout outs. Careless Detroit have not forgotten about you guys. Careless Detroit Shouts out to you guys. Shouts out to you, jay Dolenz. There's going to be a lot more shout-outs because hopefully we got a lot more people back on the train here for Season 6 of the Baker Wins Football Podcast. But as far as the other popular circumstance, that will be for another episode. All I want to say is this season, this season, season 6, dedicated to all the people in the Dfl in season 10 of the dynasty football league, uh, shots out, of course, to that boy and to the former three-time champion. Apparently there's another three-time champion, but that's for another time yes how's that possible? How's that possible.

Speaker 1:

I don't know, man, I don't know, but we do have listeners on. We do have O'Brien's over here Shout out O'Brien. Shout out the Arizona Alchemist, the Vegas Alchemist, the.

Speaker 3:

Alchemist. What's up, Dwight?

Speaker 1:

D Thomas. He jumped in real quick there in the chat right now. So we definitely want to give them a shout out as well. Funny right now. So definitely want to give them a shout out as well. Uh, funny story. My actual layover has been three and a half hours in detroit, so big turnaround. Detroit is airport, is nice now it is really nice. I must say I had a good time. I'm gonna start. Usually I go through atlanta. It's like a big hub for delta. I am not doing that anymore. I'm going going through Detroit. Atlanta has turned complete 180. It is a mess. Detroit used to be like a terrible airport. It is now very nice, at least the terminal I was in. So definitely going to start going through. So shout out Detroit. Shout out careless Detroit. Shout out everyone. That's what's up, let's get right into it. Man, we're going to make this quick. We're going to go through everything that happened. Week one has started. I must say, ryan, I do want to apologize, I did not look at the run-up show, hey.

Speaker 3:

I wouldn't have it any other way, man.

Speaker 1:

I've not done that, but we'll go over what I did want to do and I did mention this to you earlier. If that's still on and we're still good on it, we'll do a quick recap, kind of like our rapid fire. But this time we're going to do a rapid fire over the past games. Instead of staying on every single game and talking about each one in depth a little bit, we're going to kind of just touch a little bit of them, save initial thoughts of it. It is week one, everyone. So it's like everything that we say right now is way too early analysis. That is going to be the theme Way too early analysis. So we know it's a very long season. A lot of things have changed between now and then. A lot of people don't do preseason right, so a lot of the kinks and stuff are going to be worked out in these first couple of games. So do not panic Titan fans, do not panic. Cowboy fans Do not. Actually, maybe Baltimore fans should panic.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Maybe we'll go into that one a little bit, but as far as an overall consensus, ryan, what I want to say is, for all the games in general, what a week. To come back to football, man, we were blessed with some very good games across the board. Man, and I'll go on and get it started here. Let me make sure I have it pulled up. I am not working on Cerebro. I am like you said, I am mobile. I have the mobile center here now. Let's see if I can pull up the schedule. Let's see if I remember my old sources.

Speaker 1:

Here we go, here we go, we'll start off. Actually, we'll start off with the Thursday night game. Man, real quick. So we started off with a great opening game Dallas versus Philly. Maybe the other theme of this podcast should be drops. Like drops. Yeah, actually, I got it right here. Yeah, drops should be the thing that was the main killer for the Cowboys. One quick takeaway I will say that from my rapid-fire thing is and again, way too early, remember everyone way too early analysis. My initial analysis is Dallas showed some weaknesses, exposed some Phillies' weaknesses, and Dallas is better than a lot of people think they are. What do you?

Speaker 3:

say that's a take. I could see that a little bit, but I also see that Philly is one of those teams that are without key coordinators. So that's something that we should put a pin on moving forward, and this will be brought up a lot as we go through some of these matchups where they had a good offense, a good defense, where they had coordinators that have left to pursue jobs elsewhere head coaching jobs and the such. So, Philly, they lead on the run game, not much on the passing game. So if you're a Devontae Smith, AJ Brown owner, no, that must have sucked for you, but they do good at running the ball. So that's what they did and they lead on it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that was me that it sucks on. Hey, since we got Brian on real quick because I know the time difference and everything and stuff, let's go on and talk about that game real quick. I'll give you my wing too, because he's on right now. He's chatting and stuff. So I want to make sure I say a little bit, because I know he's waiting to hear what I have to say about that game. Yeah, For sure.

Speaker 1:

Here's my hot take on this one on my rapid fire thing. We can probably discuss it. We'll give, because Brian's doing this and you're the first caller tuning in on the first episode of season six, I will say this Aaron Rodgers played exactly like the Jets wanted him to play. Justin Fields played exactly like the Steelers wanted him to play.

Speaker 3:

That's a good point. I like that. However they swapped teams.

Speaker 1:

I will go on and be the first one to say because I am not a Justin Fields fan at all when it comes to that I'm not a big believer in his quarterbacking talent. I do believe in his legs and everything. I do think he needs to develop as a passer and stuff. But what we saw that day between those two quarterbacks was actually like a throwback. We got to see old school Aaron Rodgers from the Packers days. That was amazing to watch. We got to see that potential that a lot of people saw in Justin Fields. So I was very impressed with what I saw with him as a passer. I know Brian's going to be looking at me like, yeah, what about Justin Fields now punk? What about Justin Fields now punk? I just want to remind you congratulations on Justin Fields' Malik Willis against the Titans game. We never saw Malik Willis again. Remember his revenge game against the Titans? That dude came out and was doing everything.

Speaker 1:

He was throwing the ball, running Everything he was not doing at the Titans, you know, like playing quarterback, he did it. So congratulations, brian. You got your Malik Willis revenge game and Justin Fields revenge game. Where's Malik Willis now? Does anybody know? Because?

Speaker 3:

after that, you never heard from him again.

Speaker 1:

I have no idea where he's at. It's a good question.

Speaker 3:

Put an APB on that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, brian did jump in. He said nah. He said I'm hype about to pick him in the survivor pool. Nah, justin never got a chance to let him fly. Justin had an O-line. Yeah, he did have an O-line, so that was pretty good. Yeah, I am the only one to have lost in the Survivor pool and I'm actually and it's my fault it is my fault because I told everybody to make their picks and I forgot to make my picks, so I missed the whole first half of the game. I only had the second half. Every single game I was afraid of the pig and I actually was good because I picked the Bears. And then talk about that fucking collapse. Yeah, so collapse.

Speaker 1:

Do you have a quick take on the Packers before we jump over there?

Speaker 3:

kind of pivot to that one, I guess the Packers and Steelers I mean Packers, excuse me, steelers and Jets, sorry, Out of all the matchups, those were amongst the ones I would have thought goal under, hard, under, and oh boy was I wrong, they put up outside of the Baltimore Buffalo game.

Speaker 1:

I think they hit over 65, right? Wasn't it like 32, 34 or something? Yeah?

Speaker 3:

66.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, that was amazing, amazing combined score.

Speaker 3:

so what do I know right. So, um, yeah, that that was very entertaining and a big victory for pittsburgh, I think, um, even though their defense, you know, was a little shoddy or whatever. But I think that's really important that for Steelers fans they see Pittsburgh in this light, that they can not only try to play that defensive game and keep it 16-10, I mean they can shoot out with the best right and they say, oh, the Jets defense, oh their secondary is this and that, or whatever. But you know it all goes back to what you said in the beginning of this broadcast, floyd. It is week one.

Speaker 1:

Week one way too early analysis. All of this that we say today is way too early analysis. Shout out, statboy. He just jumped in the chat too. We're getting all the OS back, man. He said that I saw someone say Fields is about to go on a Michael Vick comeback. But instead of going to prison, fields had to play for the Bears.

Speaker 3:

Oh man, the Bears are so easy to pile on at this point.

Speaker 1:

Oh, my gosh dude, the Bears dude, but yeah.

Speaker 3:

I don't know if you missed it.

Speaker 1:

Nick, I said, instead of giving Justin Fields his credit which I did give him his credit I said Malik Willis had a revenge game against the Titans too, where he looked like a full quarterback and then we never heard from him again. So that was the Justin Fields-Malik Willis game. Justin Fields had that. We'll see how he does against the rest of the NFL. But anyway, yeah, let's jump on to the Bears, dude, because that pissed me off. That was my knockout game. The Bears were dominating that entire time.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to go with a brand new out-coaching man. It was out-coaching From the Bears' side. What I'm going to say is they jumped on their throats in the beginning and then they kind of took their foot off the pedal, they kind of got lackadaisical and they didn't realize that you have a brand new coach and a brand new system and they thought everything was over in the second, by the end of the first half, and it was not. So you got to play four quarters. So for the bears, you got to play all four quarters because you messed around and you let them in up on the on the viking side.

Speaker 1:

What heart and and warrior ism uh that we see from uh jj mccarthy and he was getting, uh, as far as for week one outside of outside of cam ward. He was getting absolutely destroyed in that first half by that chicago bear defense. And for him to fight back and trust his coach and his players stay with them. You still saw him on the sidelines, you know, trying to pump everybody up and everything like that showed a lot for me, a lot for me from him, and for them to stay in it and then get that dub at the end of it. That just you just advanced that progression of that guy as a quarterback a couple of steps. Not saying he's going to be the next Joe Mantegna or Tom Brady or anything like that, but as far as his progression level goes, you just jumped a couple of steps. When you have that NCAA bar and your coach's thing, when you're doing your coaching, you do stuff and it goes up. It just jumped up three levels, are you?

Speaker 3:

talking about a road to glory.

Speaker 1:

You got to jump up three levels that road to Glory.

Speaker 3:

You were talking about where you get coaches to trust.

Speaker 1:

That point said they put the ball in Caleb's hands in the fourth instead of pounding it with Swift who was killing it in the second half. Yeah, they did get away from running and the play calling was kind of weak. It was very weak, very weak, outcoached. He got outcoached.

Speaker 3:

So very weak, outcoached, he got outcoached. So what do you? What say you? I think the low-hanging fruit to this is Caleb Williams, and maybe it's more like I'm posing a question and not making a statement to you. Floyd, caleb Williams is how much is it? Like 30, at least one-third his fault, or I don't know, because the optics.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, because, if you think about it, they didn't score a touchdown until I mean, because their only touchdown was in the first quarter, I believe and then they didn't score a touchdown the rest of the game until the end when they tried to make that comeback at the end. You know the garbage points trying to come back Because, remember, the defense had to pick six, so that offense hit stalemate during the passing game. So, yeah, it is partly his fault, it is partly the play calling as well. It is a big part of getting out coach not realizing how the flow of the game I mean, once you're behind the driver's seat of a coach, these coordinators, you know they think they're smarter than everybody, right when they first come in and they kind of get, you know, kind of have to learn.

Speaker 1:

And this was a very big this. When they say it's the good losses, when they talk about good losses, this is a very good good loss for ben johnson because his team was up, they were doing stuff. He can see where they they'll be able to go learn from this one. You got to coach all four quarters and you need there were no adjustments made is what I saw. Zero adjustments made in that game from the Bears. They were just happy with the lead. That's not how the NFL works, buddy, at all. Alright, next game, let's go to Chiefs and Chargers. Man, my quick take reaction to this finally, finally, right yeah, they finally beat them.

Speaker 1:

Yes, the Chiefs, I mean the Chargers. Finally beat the Chiefs. And did I see my homes not get calls Hold up? Yeah, have the refs turned. I don't know, man, why have thou forsaken me? And there, was one Taylor Swift clip on reference in the entire game. Wow, wow.

Speaker 3:

We'll see when they come back to the States. They were in Brazil, so you know.

Speaker 1:

This is Brazil. Hopefully they tune in and they can catch this one, but yeah, finally they did it. As far as for the Chiefs man, I'll say oh darn, another injury, right, xavier Worthy, didn't you just get him?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I drafted him and then apparently he changed hands twice in the NFL so and Kelsey took him out.

Speaker 1:

Huh, I saw a clip of Taylor Swift talking about how excited she was when they drafted Xavier Worthy and Kelsey sitting in the back. She was like talking to her friend or something, or on the phone. Don't know if it's real, but they showed the next play, sitting in the back seat, like talking to her friend or something, or on the phone. Don't know if it's real, but they show the next play and Kelsey took out Xavier Worthy.

Speaker 3:

Wow, it looked comical, almost like Waterboy, you know, when someone got clotheslined or whatever, that hit in real speed. The first time I saw it I was like wow, running clothesline for Kelsey.

Speaker 1:

Do we have an idea?

Speaker 3:

how long he's out for I do not.

Speaker 1:

Okay, well, I'll have to dig that up, Statboy, you're in there, baby. Yeah, he said it's 100% real that clip about Taylor Swift. Thanks, Statboy. Oh man, it's back. I got Statboy over here. Yes, sir, that's awesome, he said. Refs kept that flag in their pocket though, when Mahomes drilled that defender on the sidelines who couldn't touch him. Yeah, very interesting.

Speaker 3:

All right.

Speaker 1:

Next game Buccaneers-Falcons Mbuka. Early rookie of the year pick. That's all I got to say.

Speaker 3:

He's out two to three weeks.

Speaker 1:

Curtis Statboy two to three weeks shoulder issue I think he got separated. But two to three weeks Shoulder issue. I think he got separated, but two to three weeks. But Mbuka Ekbuka, excuse me, Ohio State, another one, Another one. Another one, yeah, for real yeah. Baker still balling. And Youngway for Atlanta. Youngway, not cool. Wow At all Not cool. Youngway, not cool. What say you?

Speaker 3:

Not cool, young Wayne, not cool. What say you? Yeah, atlanta is going to Atlanta. I bet you can put different head coaches, you can do this and that. I bet they just find creative ways to just not be clutch. That's Atlanta. I'm sorry, I'm talking about the Falcons, I'm not talking about the Braves. So get off me, floyd, no man.

Speaker 1:

I'm not going to. That's not I, no man, I'm not going to. That's not. I'm not talking about the damn Braves. Clip that.

Speaker 4:

A rough one for the Braves.

Speaker 1:

Speaking of teams being teams, doing a Manny being Manny impression, how about the Browns and the Bengals?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, what a slobber knocker right there. You know that was almost like a slapping meat competition between two AFC North teams. Again Cleveland. I thought they were going to pull it off, to be honest, but I like the fact that Flacco was there. I feel like, okay, they lost Cleveland at home a game that they should have won If Flacco was there. There's a chance.

Speaker 1:

Absolutely, absolutely. I do think that the Bengals have a lot more to deal with. They have a lot more issues than that they're going to need to work on for the rest of the season. Stat Boyd, with the stat Bengals had seven total yards in the second half and won. If you can further what I just said, they're going to have a lot of things to worry about.

Speaker 2:

What's they want? Having a lot of things to worry about?

Speaker 1:

These are great pivots. Speaking of teams that got a lot of things to worry about Dolphins versus Colts oh dude, way too early. Way too early analysis. Daniel Jones, breakout player of the year, aka Peyton Manning. Daniel, aka Tom Joe Jones.

Speaker 3:

A lot of Giants fans had a case of FOMO looking at Daniel Jones going off McDaniel for Miami. He has volcanic hot seat right now. This is only going into week two. The vibe is all gone, just the body language. Not only Tyreek but a whole bunch of players. Tua is definitely not that answer. It hurts me to say it, but you know you put him under pressure. Everybody knows it.

Speaker 1:

Worst kept secret in the NFL, that's the chat, that boy reminded me that they scored on every single possession. That's right, every single possession. And we got a new nickname for Daniel Jones Indiana Jones from Brian Nice, our Steeler beat reporter. For the.

Speaker 1:

Dolphins, I'll say about way too early analysis for them. Yeah, mike McDaniels will not be the coach by mid-year. He will not make it to the mid -year. I said last year that that team going into the end of last year, I said that team will be completely different next year. They were going to blow the team up because it's not working right. Well, they didn't do that and they thought they could bring everybody back again and it's getting way worse.

Speaker 1:

Did you see the? I don't know if this was real. Did you see the press conference from Tyreek? When he asked them what could they have done differently in a run game? He said not keep Devon A Chan in on third downs. No, I didn't see that. Yeah, he's like why are you taking not a big back? He's like take him out on third downs, bring in. That's why we got Ali Gordon. That's why we got Jalen Wright. He's like he is not a third down back. Why do you keep trying to run him? And he's like what what are y'all looking at me for? Y'all asked about the running game. What could have been done differently? Take them out. So that's a whole mess of stuff. That's going to be very interesting to watch Stat Boy comes in, if Dolphins cut to it it would be an 80 million dead cat hit.

Speaker 1:

Well, you know what? No one gives a shit, and I'm not saying that to be mean to you, stat Boy. Look at Denver and that dead cat pit right. They took it and look what they did. Don't they got somebody in the back? Who's the backup? 62 million after July 1st. He said who's the backup there? Don't they got the rookie quarterback? They got somebody.

Speaker 3:

I forgot who it is Quinn Ewers. Is it Quinn Ewers? Yeah, he got Quinn Ewers. Is it Quinn Ewers? Yeah, he got Quinn Ewers yeah. Yo, it could be Never know you said midway through the season. I think that's pretty accurate. I think he is the first to go and that's over Dable, that's over Stefanski. I mean, just on the surface, worst vibes coming from Miami after week one so that's low hanging fruit as far as you think he's gone, the first coach gone.

Speaker 1:

I think there's another one in play, I don't remember. We'll go down the line next game. I didn't really get a lot of this one, so I don't know. But as far as Raiders and Patriots, my quick take reaction for this is I pray Brock Bowers is fine. He was murdering it and then he got hurt. I don't know the status. I haven't been able to look at anything. And as far as the Patriots go, I don't care about the Patriots because of what they did to Gerard Mayo as their coach to get Bray Bull in. I think that was very wrong and dirty of them and I don't really know much about that game. So I do know that Gino passed for 362 and a touchdown and that debut. So Gino is no tapes. That voice is no tapes.

Speaker 3:

No, I expect a little bit more from Drake May, because he had a lot of hoopla, he had a lot of buzz and it seemed like everyone was crowning New England as a champion of the.

Speaker 1:

Shout out Lackey, what's up baby? Yeah we got some people jumping in. Alright, next one, let's go. We'll go on a move from that game then. And that's crazy because he just oh, he said they gave us peppers. Next game Cardinals and Saints.

Speaker 1:

And that's crazy, because he just oh, he said they gave us peppers. Next game Cardinals and Saints. Here's what I would my way too early analysis for Cardinals and Saints, or hot take for the Cardinals and Saints. Saints are obviously tanking for either Nussmeyer or Arch. I pray it's Nussmeyer over. Arch. Coach is kidding. As far as the Cardinals go, hmm, there might be another running back coming out Out of there. There might be another running back coming out of there. And be careful, because Call of Duty 6 is about to drop, or 7.

Speaker 3:

When? Because Inquirer Minds wants to know.

Speaker 1:

It's coming out soon. They've already got all the previews probably going to come out. I know battlefield 6 comes out october. I don't know how soon uh call of duty 7 drops after that or before that, I'm not sure, but they have been dropping before floyd.

Speaker 3:

People in the chat are asking for a friend. When is it dropping?

Speaker 1:

I'll look it up. I'll look it up. We already did Steelers Jets, let's go. Giants Commanders oh, I'll let you start this one off. I'll look up Call of Duty release date. You're way too early analysis for Giants Commanders.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, the Giants are very terrible. They're a very terrible team. I bet their offense not good. Everyone's saying Russell Wilson should not be starting in week two. And it's pretty interesting, right? Because everybody knows and we talked about it last season that the GM and the head coach are on the line right, their job's on the line right now. So the moves that they do, you know are they doing it for now, but are they going to do it for the future. And it seems like if they put in Jackson Dart, you could kill two birds with one stone with that. However, speaking of being killed, I mean their whole line is terrible.

Speaker 3:

I mean our defense last year. The Commanders' defense was absolutely terrible and the Giants made us look like world beaters. So that's about it. And because of preseason the Commanders, amongst other teams, you know, we had a lot of starters that did not play at all during the preseason and it showed in this game against the Giants A lot of misfiring, a lot of drops, not clean, heavily penalized. So that's how I took it. The real test is against the Packers coming up in a couple days. But the Giants are absolute trash. They're terrible.

Speaker 1:

The way too early thing for me is I think it's way too early to go into Jackson Dart. Like you knew it was going to happen, though they were going to scream for him. I think Winston needs to get a shot before you go Jackson Dart, but I do think it's way too early man, way too early for that type of talk. Let's see how they build off of next game. Next game Jaguars versus Panthers Six catches for Travis Hunter and a tackle.

Speaker 3:

That's all I got for that one.

Speaker 1:

That's all I got for that.

Speaker 3:

They had inclement weather. Game was held back for lightning, I believe, for several hours. Yeah, great victory for Jacksonville. It was a doable victory. I expect a little bit more from Carolina. They ended the season pretty well and very disappointing start from them. So we'll see how that goes.

Speaker 1:

Yep. And the next one. Brian said Russell Wilson can't, Russ is done, he can't throw over the middle. The next one Titans Broncos. Oh my goodness.

Speaker 3:

I'll give you the floor.

Speaker 1:

Way too early analysis. I was right. I said I was not worried about our defense against their offense. I was worried about our offense against their defense. They did have the number one. I know, fantasy defense. I don't know about NFL defense last year, but pretty much they have a very good defense.

Speaker 1:

I think that was a very tough initial game for a rookie quarterback to go against, especially in mile high. I do think that he showed a lot of poise. He did a lot of things right. He did a lot of things wrong, like take those sacks when we had three points on the board after the muffed punt, but drops and penalties ultimately murdered us. Shows a non-disciplined coach, play calling, excuse me, undisciplined coach, play calling, excuse me, undisciplined team. With the penalties, half of them were under breaths, the other half we committed ourselves. It was terrible.

Speaker 1:

I will say that Cam showed me a lot and I am on the train. Cam is the one he was making throws. He was doing a lot of good things right, but again drops. So I thought CD Lamb was out there playing, but apparently it was Calvin Ridley. Is his name Disguised as CD Lamb or CD Lamb disguised as Calvin Ridley? So had a shot to win Did not capitalize. So, as far as the Broncos, I do believe and I do think that they will continue exactly what they are, what they did last year, and I think they are a definite threat to win that division. A definite threat to win that division. Go ahead. If you want to say something on that, go ahead if you want to say something on that.

Speaker 3:

Real quick question Do you think that Tennessee may have exposed Bo Nix a little bit?

Speaker 1:

I do believe so. Yes, absolutely, absolutely. You can either say it's that or a lot of people didn't realize how good our defense was from last year because obviously we had a different quarterback that put us in different situations. So people didn't realize that we were that close. So very similar situation to I mentioned this before very similar situation to where, when we went from Mariotta to Tannehill, we had a team, we had a run game, we had receivers on the outside I can't say we have that anymore right now until they catch some balls. And we had a team, we had a run game, we had receivers on the outside I can't say we have that anymore right now until they catch some balls. And we had a solid defense. We just needed a quarterback change. We had the quarterback change and now we're missing the catch passes, the non-dropped passes and penalties obviously. So we got to get it all together. That is a very undisciplined. We looked very sloppy and we still had a shot to win that game late. So we were up actually late in that game Nice world.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that was a tough one, but they showed a lot out of that, a lot of stuff that we can fix on our own. For that Next one, niners Seahawawks, I'll let you go on this one, I don't know.

Speaker 3:

I I didn't watch the whole game, to be honest. Uh, for Niners Seahawks, uh, but Niners pull, pull off. Uh, one that was on the road, they, they were in Seattle, so already divisional road game. Big win for the 49ers. Kiddo was hurt for a couple weeks. They got a third string tight end. The hero, yeah, he's on the pup.

Speaker 1:

I believe I think they announced that he's on the pup.

Speaker 3:

Oh yikes.

Speaker 1:

IR yeah.

Speaker 3:

So that's a minimal of a month Four games yep.

Speaker 3:

Four games, yikes. So yeah, brock Purdy, it's time to put up a show up there. They gave you the bag. Let's see what happens. But one thing is for certain death, death taxes. And when Robert Sala is your DC, you're playing good defense and the Niners have done that, even though they got some parts that you may not recognize. They had to cut salary, but the defense looks pretty intact. And they got rid of Jake Moody, so 49ers fans rejoice. They finally got rid of him and replaced him with Eddie. Panero Good luck.

Speaker 1:

He is gone Absolutely. Next game, lions-packers. Hehehe, he is gone, absolutely. Next game, lions-packers Hehehe. Oh man, all right, way too early analysis. On the Lions I was right. I said that I picked the Lions as a team that's going to fall, be the biggest faller in that division. And it's not because of the talent, because they have all the talent and stuff. It's because Dan Campbell lost every single one of his coordinators. I think he lost everybody that was on that coordinator on that team, I think even the waterboy coordinator, the H2O coordinator. He lost all of it. So, and it showed right. And the Packers, they look good, man, they look good. They keep showing that. One play from Micah. Micah was on a pitch count for those who watched the game and were wondering where he was. He was on a pitch count but he did make one big play, so you can kind of see what he can do. I'll table my discussion about Micah until later, at a later time. You got anything on this one?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, you said what I wanted to say about the coordinators. I think this is something that we are going to definitely have to monitor, especially for the first several games, and see how these teams like Detroit life after Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn. That's going to be really tough to replace, but they did sign Jamison Williams. So good. On the front office they're locking down all the weapons, so maybe it will be a matter of time until things get to where they used to be, so that's huge.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he'll get some more coordinators, probably for next year. Yeah, or maybe get some experience out of these ones. I don't know who their current coordinators are. I'll have to look that up for later. Next game Texans-Rams Rams win 14-19. I don't really have a lot on this one because this was on during the Titans game, but I did hear that the Texans looked very, very flat. I don't I'll table my discussion on the Texans and the Rams until later, but I don't think that was a pretty game either.

Speaker 1:

It was 14-9 forever yeah, didn't Puka get hurt?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, he got concussed twice, I think.

Speaker 4:

He went to the tent twice.

Speaker 3:

Oh, my goodness.

Speaker 1:

But he came back. Was it from that or for his baby mom, the paternity suit that he's dealing?

Speaker 3:

with right now. Oh, I have no idea. I have no idea. I'm going to table that.

Speaker 1:

We'll table that another time. And finally, the game to talk about will be the Ravens and the Bills.

Speaker 3:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

Wow, listen, way too early. Hot, take rapid fire.

Speaker 1:

If I was to introduce somebody to the game of football right and they had never seen football before in their life and they were like, okay, I'll give it a shot and I would be like, okay, sit down, watch this game. This would be the game that they would have to watch. I would put up there. This was an amazing game of football football and it seems like it's always with these two teams or whenever you have these two MVPs, whatever in these type of games. But Josh Allen did show a lot. Getting married did not mess him up and made him play stronger. Maybe he's got a whole new round focus, but I do not want to. What don't want to do, uh, ryan, is do the exact same thing we did last year got all excited and stuff and be like, okay, this is them, good, this is the win that's going to catapult them, because we already know how this is going to play out. They always play each other. It's either them between them three they always play each other, them two and the chiefs they play each other. In the beginning of the season, the other team I think the baltimore won right and beat them beat the chiefs last year, I think, to start the season off or something like that and we thought, okay, this is the turning point boom, and then they got in there and again got beat by the chiefs. So I am not going to fall for the okey-doke again. Fool me once, pull me twice, pull me three times. Whatever, I'm not falling. None of this matters to me. These games when we did something, nothing or everything. This game means absolutely nothing to me because in the end, it's all about the playoffs and how they look.

Speaker 1:

I will say that I learned a lot. Keon Coleman showed a lot of progression in this game. Looks like he's starting to develop into a role. And Shakur man I wish I didn't let him go. And Shakur James Cook was not a one-hit wonder. He's still a good running back. I think that both defenses took a massive step backwards. I do think that the big changing of the game was not the Derrick Henry fumble in the fourth quarter. It was Kyle Hamilton going out the game with the injury 100% agree.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that was the major turning point in that game for them. Yes, did Derrick Henry fumble? Absolutely give them another shot and, you know, help them get another score. Yes, it did, but none of that would have happened if Kyle Hamilton was there. It would be a completely different outcome. So that was a major blow for Baltimore. But regardless, both of their defenses looked absolutely terrible from a year ago.

Speaker 1:

Again, way too early. We know these two teams, those two defenses are going to get on the snide, they're going to turn it on and they're going to go back into the lab and they're going to fix what they need to fix. So definitely do not worry about any of this stuff at all. Another thing I want to say Lamar looks damn good, I think. I think we did watch the winner of the MVP this year. Again in these two teams. It's going to be off of one of these two teams. Yeah, because both of those quarterbacks look very, very sharp. And shout out Zay Flowers. I didn't start him and he blasted at his career high in receiving yards. He had his career high game and I did not start him, but I still won so it doesn't matter, of course.

Speaker 1:

With Zay.

Speaker 3:

Flowers. Yeah, I'll put in a couple quick quips about the game, and I think I've said it a lot in the chat, with the sleeper chat. I bet Baltimore just Baltimore'd again, man, and I know it's only week one. I know you should take it with a grain of salt, but I don't know. Every time there's these moments where Baltimore is the absolutely bully beast of the NFL not FC, only the NFL and the only difference is that the change happened like within an hour, like I think I made a comment, like at 10 30 Eastern time. They are the beast of the NFL and then, as we got closer to midnight Eastern time, they turn into a pumpkin.

Speaker 3:

That's a great one, love that thank you um but, I, I don't, I don't know, I, I again, it is week one, so I shouldn't look too much into it, but I couldn't help myself because it seems every time that I want to say baltimore is the beast, they, they do something that makes it opposite, and so that was tough. And because of Josh Allen's super heroics, I probably lost week one in my fantasy thing. But that's nor here nor there. I'm not trying to be a force port about it. Damn you, josh Allen.

Speaker 1:

It can't again.

Speaker 3:

Christian Kirk pretty soon, but great game, great game so that's the matchups.

Speaker 1:

For the quick review matchups from last week, I would say let's pick a couple of games for this coming week, because I don't know my availability for the rest of the week for like a Thursday shoot. So let's pick just a couple to talk about, if you want to, and then I guess we can call it. Yeah, no problem, cool, or did you have something else in the tank you wanted to do? Okay, cool. So the two games I'm looking at right now is two of the biggest games to me. You can take a look at the schedule too and either confirm or deny. To me, you can take a look at the schedule too and either confirm or deny.

Speaker 1:

I would say it would be the 425 Eastern game between Philadelphia going to Kansas City yeah, to Kansas City to battle it out. And Thursday night game, washington at Green Bay yes, I'll let you. Oh, that's a prime video. Oh, my gosh, some prime. Oh man, actually I might be able to watch that one. I don't know, it's been to where I'm at. So let's go with the. Let's start with the Kansas City and Philly game and then we'll go to yours after that. So my initial reaction I think you have the lines put on there. Let's see, we got Philly. Excuse me, is it KC's minus one and a half Correct? Yes, kc's the favorite.

Speaker 3:

Yes, as of this morning, and I got it off of FanDuel, so yeah.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so Kansas City's the favorite. Oh, my goodness, dude, I'm going to take philly on this one.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm gonna. Also. I'm gonna take philly on this one, and it's mostly due to the injuries. Yes, you get the bump because of home field. Yes, it's very tough to go play in arrowhead. You know they're gonna be, uh, supporting them. Uh, their fans are gonna be out there loud and crazy because they finally get their team back, because they played in Brazil last. They played in Brazil, right. Yeah, they played in Brazil last game. So we're also going to not Can we do two weeks without Taylor Swift? Oh man, that'd be awesome. Don't know if that's going to happen, but I do think.

Speaker 1:

Philly's way too strong. Here's what I'm hoping happens. I'm hoping, with the AJ Brown crap that's going on and nobody knows what actually the problem is but there is a fucking problem between AJ Brown and Jalen Hurts that it gets figured out in this game and AJ Brown has 10 catches for 170 yards and two touchdowns.

Speaker 4:

Speaking to existence.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm speaking it into existence, man, because we cannot have a whole another year of this drama going on, because it's just, it's unnecessary, dude. And for those of you, stat boy, that basically say there is no problem with the high voice, no problem, you're out of your mind. I watched that entire game and listen. Jalen Hurts made reads. He did not. Aj Brown was never one of those reads. He never even looked in his direction when he dropped back to pass. That is the guy that you gave a lot of money to, you brought over, you traded away a first round pick for him and everything. You gave him more money as an extension and everything. He's the best athlete arguably on the field, other than Saquon, some people told me, or whatever, I would say why is he not even getting looks? Not even getting looks. So fix that shit, fix it now. It's so annoying Jalen Carter. I told you the league was going to be fucking stupid and soft and they weren't going to do anything to Jalen Carter and their excuse was they counted that ejection as a suspension.

Speaker 2:

I'll tell you man Did you know that I'm not surprised, I'm not surprised.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'm not surprised at all, and Sirianni and them ain't going to do anything either. I think he got docked 50,000, 57k or something. I think that's egregious. He should have been gone for three games. If it was me, I don't care, get rid of him Three games. He needs to go. He needs to think about what he did, because you almost cost your team. If CeeDee Lamb catches passes, you would have cost your team a loss. So anyway, that's my little spiel about that. I do.

Speaker 1:

Still, I think the ship gets righted. It is hostile territory. I think Jalen Hurts is growing as a leader, not as a passer. He's growing as a hell of a leader and he will not let that. No matter what's going on around that team, he's not going to let that team die, and that's very admirable and stuff. So yeah, I'm taking Philly in this one. I think the injuries on Kansas City are just too much, too early. I know they're going to come with a renewed fire, but I don't think it's going to be enough. So Super Bowl rematch goes back to one, again by Philly. What say you?

Speaker 3:

One of the things from the Chargers-Chiefs matchup in Brazil, the fact that the Chargers-Chiefs matchup in Brazil, the fact that the Chargers were looking mighty explosive and maybe there's something I don't see in the Chargers as an explosive team, but the way that they got to move the ball at will against the Chiefs. So we'll see. Now that they're back at home rather than, you know, going to Brazil. I think I heard some people got sick. I don't know if they drank the water, who knows. That seems to be a cop-out anytime you go to somewhere below the equator for some reason, because that's not the same excuses when you go above the equator.

Speaker 3:

But, geopolitics aside, I want to see the Chiefs defense see if they can go to that form that Jim Spagnola defense. You know that they dictate the tempo, that they make Philadelphia uncomfortable, something that they did not do in the Super Bowl. We'll see. I want to see, or I want to say, that being at home and this is a revenge for the Super Bowl matchup will be enough of a bump to have KC pull out a close victory over Philadelphia. We'll see about that. I want to see KC a team that's very prideful, that has tradition, that has a lot of veterans, got a lot of leaders over there. I feel they can right the ship and somehow Vegas sees that too. Right now we're a line of one and a half, so we'll see about that.

Speaker 1:

I'm definitely taking me under on this game.

Speaker 3:

I agree too.

Speaker 1:

Whatever it is, I don't care, I'm taking me under on this game. I agree too. Whatever it is, I don't care, I'm taking me under on this game. Alright, next and final matchup, let's go to it. We have the Green Bay Packers playing the at-home, but hosting the team the Washington Commanders. Go on and give me what you think about this game.

Speaker 3:

I think this is another game that's going under too. I would take under yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

That's just my initial feeling about that 48.5. 48.5?, 24.20? I could see that I think with Washington they need a couple weeks to kind of get into full form as far as the offense is concerned. But Michael Parsons is definitely going to be a problem. But I think more of the problem is the other people in the defense.

Speaker 3:

Green Bay's defense is a lot more faster, a lot more younger. Yes, jair Alexander is not in the secondary, but they got McKinney being the boss safety in the defensive backfield. They got a lot of pieces that I think can give Washington some trouble, especially whoever they're going to line up on the right side of the Washington offensive line. That's definitely the weak point. We'll see how they scheme it up and so forth. And one thing about the Packers too. They got Jacobs, they got Love. I think they got Matthew Golden. It's going to be an interesting weapon. I think he can really put a hurt on Washington. I think the reason why Washington was successful was that they only had to worry about Malik, neighbors and everyone else they were not scared about. I feel that Washington will need to respect at least the various young weapons that the Packers have and so forth.

Speaker 1:

You should have been worried about Cam Scadaboo, aka Mr CTE, waiting. I know, yeah, he's a bull, that's for sure.

Speaker 3:

Aka Mr CTE waiting, I know. Yeah, yeah, he's a bull, that's for sure. It's a shame that he only got a couple of touches.

Speaker 1:

I know, man, I know.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so it's going to be under folks? It's definitely going to be under and as a Washington fan, I'm excited. But I think a lot of questions are going to get answered. Right now, I have the Packers winning this one over the Commanders.

Speaker 1:

Whoa 24-20. Whoa really.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, that is so not me doing a reverse psychology thing. Not at all, folks, not at all. I'm really thinking this one out right now 24-20 Packers.

Speaker 1:

Okay, way too early analysis. Who's in your NFC Championship game?

Speaker 3:

NFC Champion. Hmm, oh, dang, put me on the spot here. I sure am, I think. I think it is going to be Philadelphia. They'll be back. They're probably going to host too Against Green Bay Right now Philly, green Bay.

Speaker 1:

Okay, philly Green Bay. Since you went Philly Green Bay Because I was thinking kind of the same thing as well, I'm thinking I'm going to take insteadilly Green Bay. Since you went Philly Green Bay because I was thinking kind of the same thing as well, I'm thinking I'm going to take instead of Green Bay. Then I'll go opposite and I'll take Tampa Bay hmm, that's a good one too. Philly, tampa Bay, I'll go there. Afc, who you got?

Speaker 3:

AFC, afc, I am gonna go. I wanna say Baltimore, maybe I'll reverse jinx that let's go with Baltimore, hell with it. Let's go Baltimore, man, let's go Baltimore. And I think, I think it's gonna be KC's one of their last runs, baltimore, kc.

Speaker 1:

Wow.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

I don't think KC even makes it to the AFC championship game this year.

Speaker 3:

It kind of seems like that right.

Speaker 1:

It does seem like that and I'm going Buffalo and Baltimore. I think we're going to have a rematch. That's a way too early sexy pick. If I had to go dark horse, I'd probably pick Denver, Ah a year away. A year away Possibly yep a year away, that defense looks really good, though Not like that. I mean, if you want to go really dark horse, I could say we got Tennessee, washington and the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3:

Oh Tennessee, Washington, Wow, Wow. And then I wake up Bowl. Oh Tennessee, Washington, Wow, Wow. And then I wake up that would be nice, huh. That would be really nice.

Speaker 1:

I might finally be able to get you on a plane. If that happens.

Speaker 3:

I think I would be yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I'd have to get on a plane NFL. Write the script. Rewrite the script. Let's to get on a plane NFL. Write the script. Rewrite the script. Let's get Ryan on a plane Tennessee, Washington. Let's get him on a plane.

Speaker 3:

We're not talking about the Volunteers and the Huskies, we're talking about the pro teams. Folks Just want to make it clear here yeah, I think this first month is going to be really interesting. And you know, you said it before, I'm going to reiterate it again for everybody the fact that nobody plays hard during preseason at least the starters this leaves things open for games that are not clean, unexpected results, kind of bad football, perhaps Entertaining, but bad football. And there's another aspect too that I'm not going to. I'm going to speak it like Baltimore. So I ain't going to say it, but I'm going to think it. And if you guys listen to Season 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, in the first episodes of the season, we talk about it every time. In fact, I have my own track, my own soundtrack that I put in for this thing, but I'm not going to say it. We'll see what happens if it happens in week 2 or week 3.

Speaker 1:

We'll see if it happens.

Speaker 3:

Because I don't want to jinx nothing On that note.

Speaker 1:

it is time for me to call it. It is 12.30 am. It is now Wednesday. I don't even know what day it is. I've switched so many time zones. I think it's a Wednesday for me now.

Speaker 1:

Final word Wow, we haven't done this in a while. I haven't thought of anything. Actually. Let's go with the final word. I'm just going to say it's glad to be back, amen.
